Good Morning!
Many of you know that I'm struggling with the vintage trend of card making. It's not that I don't like it, it's that I just don't seem to have a handle on how to make a decent looking card.
Here is a first attempt in Cajun Craze and Bblack. I used Newsprint DSP and VV card stock as well. I stamped the images from Artistic Etchings on the VV, then sprayed it with Log Cabin smooth spritz. I adhered the newsprint to the Cajun colored base then ran the card through my Big Shot using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder. Unfortunately, but serendipitously, it left an inch on the right of the card without the pattern. (Operator error I'm sure). So I refit the card into a second embossing folder for the blank section and ran it through again. I LOVE the effect!
I tied on VV Taffeta ribbon and the shimmery thread you see tied around the knot is actually from the Mini Vintage Tag. I cut it off and tied it on the knot instead. I stamped the Vintage tag with a flourish from the Tiny Tags set and put a black brad through the hole.
That's it! What do you think? Can I use this for a class or club? I'm so unsure of myself with vintage I need honest comments. Please let me know what you think of this card by leaving comments. It'll help me grow into this genre of cardmaking.
Thanks!
Much love and joy,
Karen
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way -- just can't figure out how to do vintage. I didn't get the Artistic Etchings but I do have Vintage Vogue and the wheel, so my challenge this weekend is to try a 'vintage' card. I think your card looks great. The two textures turned really turned out -- don't you love happy 'mistakes'?
