It's Scrappin' Saturday!

Hi everyone!

Too funny! I forgot that yesterday was 3D Friday and posted a regular card instead. Actually, I didn't space the 3D part as much as the Friday part! I kind of thought it was a different day. I'm not sure which one really, just not Friday. Who's in charge of me anyway??

Today is Scrappin' Saturday! I've got ... wait for it ... another Mexico page for you! This is a 12x12 layout and I hope to have the matching page here next week.

This page is about the bus (el camion). We took buses everywhere when we lived with families in Guadalajara. Most experiences were good and one was kind of scary, but I won't go there!

I'm still using The Write Stuff DSP with die cuts here. The pages is Old Olive textured card stock with smooth Soft Suede inset. The letters are cut from the Alphabet Simple Letters (an exclusive SU Sissix die) die (#115960). The button is a kraft corduroy button that will be retiring. I took a sliver of the Ruby Red DSP in that paper pack and threaded it through the button holes.

The bus is cut and punched. The square is Sahara Sand card stock with the corners rounded. The bumper is the Word Window punch and the tail lights and wheels are various circle punches. The little square back window are punched with a small square punch.

The photos are dark but you remember what it was like taking photos in 1978! You never knew if your film would turn out, especially after they x-rayed everything in customs!

The journaling circle is from the DSP pack and the top conversion chart is converting miles to kilometers. I recommend saving ticket stubs, charts, maps and the like for scrapbooking. I find that it's helping me fill out pages. Still new and not great at scrapping, but by golly, I'll get there!

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Isn't this one fun? I know I say it a lot but ... I LOVE this set.

My mother moved to town a few years back and lives a few miles from us in an apartment. I made this card for her. The stamp set is All in the Family, the houses are a coordinating Jumbo wheel. The houses were stamped on WW, colored with markers and cut out. Then I mounted them on the same rolled images on Soft Sky card stock, but Bashful Blue or Baja Breeze should work. I just LOVE the soft sky and wish it would have come back to use for ... SKY!

I colored the clouds in the wheel with my white gel pen. I stamped the people on Watercolor paper and bled Stampin' Write markers to get the shading.It was a fun project!

The fence is done and now all we have today is final cleanup and polishing so to speak. It should be wonderful. It smells good too (cedar!)

Lovely as a Tree - Spring

Lovely as a Tree is one of my all time favorite sets. It's so versatile. You can make cards for any season. This one was going to be a fall card, but I was inspired by the spring tree colors. Sometimes spring trees seem to be as colorful as fall, but with a different palette. I love all the celery, wasabi, saffron, lavender and pinks. It's amazing. So ... I made a spring card for men.

I used Close to Cocoa card stock for the card base, Elegant Eggplant for the mat and WW for the stamping area. I colored the image with Stampin' Write markers in Mellow Moss, More Mustard and Elegant Eggplant, primarily because I had Stampin' Up! glitter in those colors. I then used a two-way glue pen, touched the trees in various branches and added the different colors of glitter to make it pop. I finished it off with Elegant Eggplant 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon and some silver cord.

It's supposed to feel like summer here today. Yesterday was only about 80 degrees and it's the first non-rainy day we've had in a while. Today is going to be 86 and sunny for the most part. I love opening my windows the minute I get up!

The privacy/safety fence for my son should be finished today. It's a Western red cedar basket weave and absolutely gorgeous. I wanted the cedar (a) because it was cheaper than composite and (b) because it'll keep down the bugs. Ryan is terrified of bugs. He has raised garden beds for horticultural therapy so staying inside isn't an option. He's been such a houseplant that we put the beds in last fall. So far it's working other than him feeling unsafe and needing an army of adults to go outside and garden. Once the fence is up  he should feel secure enough to be out there alone ... I hope. :-)

Sunflower Seasons

For some reason THIS card got too MUCH light! Sheesh! I can't win for losing on this picture taking thing. It may explain why scrapbooking can be intimidating to me, right?

This card uses a Crumb Cake base, with Chocolate Chip mat and Really Rust background. A slip of designer paper has the greeting from Stem Sayings (#115078) on it in ch chip ink. The stamp set is A Flower for All Seasons (#111592) and will be in the new catalog. I used Watercolor Paper and stamped the image in Black StazOn ink. Then I outlined it with Stampin' Write markers and bled the ink with my aqua painter. The result has a bit of nice shading.

The sunflower is a combination of two Big Shot dies: the chocolate center is Flower Burst embosslit (#114515) and the Summer Sun portion of the flower is the Flowers Daisy #2 die (#114520). I sponged some chocolate chip ink onto the edges of the flower petals with a sponge dauber (#102892) so that I had more control over the color distribution. The leaves are the Little Leaves sizzlit die (#114511).

3x6 Gift Cards - Wasabi

Hey there!
It's another rainy day here in the northland! I have to tell you ... I'm wanting a bunch of SUNSHINE, thank you!

Today I thought I'd showcase the Trio Flower punch (#109183) because it's retiring this month. The stamps I used with it are the Three for You stamp set which retired but you could use any small sentiment or just make prima flowers by layering or separating card stock.

Here's our first one:

This one uses a Wild Wasabi (color returning July 1) card base with a tiny bit of Basic Black 1/4 inch ribbon as an accent. I then stamped the image with Purely Pomegranate (you could easily use Rose Red) to stamp the image followed by Wasabi dotted lines. I put a black eyelet through the flower with my Cropadile (#108362)

I punched out the image with the 1 1/4 inch Square punch (#104400) and punched the mat out of Pomegranate with the 1 3/8 inch Square punch (# 103375). The Black and White Gingham ribbon (#104832) is retiring too. Boo hoo! It's one of my favorites! I stamped the sentiment tone on tone (wasabi on wasabi) for a softer look. That's it.

For the next one

I used a So Saffron card base, a WW rectangle with raised, stamped flowers that I punched with the same Trio Flower punch, stapled a Wasabi strip and stamped the sentiment in Chocolate Chip. It looks crooked in this pic. Sometimes those tiny little cards are harder to get straight than the larger ones, you know?

This one is a little bolder in color and would be good with a plant gift. The colors are Purely Pomegranate (or Rose Red), Wild Wasabi and Handsome Hunter for the mat and the stamping. This one is pretty self explanatory. :-)

Same colors here. I patterned the Pomegranate with a dot punch before I laid down the Wasabi with the three flowers punched out. I used the Slot punch for the ribbon.

This one used the circle punch, as well as the piercing kit.

This one is a little softer again with the Pretty in Pink added. The flower has a silver brad through it before I mounted it on the card stock. I trimmed the edges of the brad with the wire cutter.

Don't forget to decorate the mini 3x3 envelopes!

This card is one of my absolute favs. The color of the base card is Soft Sky, a retired In Color, and one of my ALL time favs (along with Vintage Violet!) the sky circle at the side is matted with Brushed Silver card stock (#100712) and I put a small Crystal Rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit (#109114) in the center. The accent color is Blue Bayou, as is the ribbon.

It's Manic Monday!

Time for a CAS card! That's Clean and Simple for those just joining me!

The above card couldn't be any easier. I cut the base card from Mellow Moss card stock. This color is retiring so make sure to stock up by the end of June if it's one of your favorites.

The over layers is Whisper White card stock. The stamp set is Trendy Trees (#113258) as is the sentiment. I stamped the tree in Mellow Moss and Chocolate Chip. I ran two dry embossed lines at the bottom of the card to give it some pop. The lines are about 1/4 inch apart.

That's it, my friends. You could probably make this one in five minutes!

July Fourth at the Marina

Good morning!

It's a little before 6:00 a.m. and I don't have church until 9:00 but I had to get up and let the dog out anyway so decided to get a jump on the day. The only problem is I could easily sleep in, you know?  I'm hoping for blue skies today. I'm weary of the rain. Enough of my whining!

Here's today's card. I played with some Summer catty stamps this weekend along with some Sneak Peek colors! The base card on this is the new Marina Mist color of blue. I love it! The WW card stock on top of it I ran through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions folder (#117335) which was sold in the Occasions Mini Catalog. It will be carried over into the new catalog so don't worry if you haven't gotten it yet.

The other colors are Cajun Craze (the rusty red color) and Daffodil Delight.(the yellow color). These new core colors are amazing! I used the July Fourth stamp set (#118523 - wood mount; #120063- cling mount) in the Summer Mini catalog. I used Stampin' Write markers in those three colors (I LOVE that there are markers for all the colors in the new catalog!) and filled in the greeting stamp. I punched it out with the 1 1/4 inch Square punch (#104400) and matted it with Cajun Craze using the 1 3/8 inch Square punch (#103375) and raised the image with Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430).

I finished off the project by using a Mini Library Clip (#109857)  on the greeting and some Sneak Peek 1/8 inch Tafetta ribbon, which I tied crooked! Sorry about that!

I know you'll love the new colors, they're amazing! Let me know if you need a new catalog ordered. I have only a couple left in this shipment!

It's Scrappin' Saturday!

Hi there Scrappers!
It's Scrappin' Saturday! I've got a two page 12x12 layout from my Mexico pages circa 1978! I'm re-scrapping the entire thing!

This uses Bordering Blue, Really Rust, Night of Navy and WW card stock. The title looks crooked here but in actuality isn't. I think the card stock might have bent a little sitting against the screen to get that natural light.

The DSP is Bella Blue, one of my favorites that is retiring this month. Sniff sniff sob! The flowers along the side were cut with the Big Shot using the Loopy Flowers decorative strip die (#113455). The alphabet is Lovely Letters (#115030). This page was made before we got our corner punches so I used an old one I had.

The photos are matted with NON card stock and the journaling has NON Organdy (from when we had it!) and a NON button from the Rich Regals button collection when we sold them by family a couple of catalogs ago. We'll have them again in the new catty July 1 under Regals collection. Yippee!

The facing page matches of course with the same color scheme. I used a piece of Dusty Durango polka dot grosgrain ribbon and ran in vertically on the Bella Blue paper for an accent. I attached 5/16 inch Jumbo Brads in Whisper White (#112534) to each end of the ribbon.  I have Whisper White designer buttons from the Latte collection (#114333) which picked up a blue cast from the card stock behind them ... a lucky coincidence!

I used the obverse image of the Tulipe die (#113457) cut to sponge it a stencil-like watermark. This die IS retiring at the end of June so if you love it, get it now, especially during my free shipping week. Don't know when that is? E-mail me and I'll send you a copy of my June newsletter with all the deets. I added a clip from the Clips Assortment (#112580) and tied a NON Organdy ribbon around it.

There's a lot of journaling on this page but that's just how it worked out. I'm still getting my "sea legs" where scrapbooking is concerned. I'm still so new at it. I don't know that I'm keep up with pages every Saturday this summer but I'm sure going to try! I'm going to start working on a 6x6 pretty soon and I'm excited to do that. I also have an 8 1/2 x 11 that I'm working on, well, I've done a couple pages anyway!

Scrapbooking takes a while for me, it's kind of a winter sport, you know? Unless it's a hundred degrees outside, which it hasn't been, thank you!

It's 3-D Friday!

I had a 3D project for today but it's so dark here with heavy rain that I can't get a good shot no matter how many lights I have on! So I thought I'd include a previously taken photo with kind of a 3D effect using one of my all time favorite sets, Lovely as a Tree (#115026). The back card is a single layer of Really Rust with WW and Always Artichoke color blocks.

The oak tree is matted with Basic Black and Really Rust. It's adhered to the WW underneath which is decorated with the oak leaves from the set. I used Water Color Wonder Crayons and an aqua painter to color the leaves, tree, and ground the image. The strap like tabs are a product of the Word Window punch (#105090) secured with Antique Brads (#109109).

Circle Circus Punch Happy

Rock on Melon Mambo! I really love that color of pink. This was a great card for club to showcase punches. I used various sized circle punches and the Circle Circus stamp set (#115778). The base card is Chocolate Chip, the circles are stamped on WW, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. The ribbon is Melon Mambo 1/2 inch polka dot grosgrain ribbon.

The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (#115370) which is totally worth the money. You get 24 stamps for $36.95 (plus tax and shipping). That only comes out to around $1.50 per stamp and you'll have every holiday and then some! It's one of my "go-to" sets for greetings.

The Saturn type ring was punched by using the smaller circle punch first, then the large one. Some of the circles are raised with Stampin' Dimensionals to give the artwork more pop.

That's it for me. I'm on the fly today. Much to do, then dinner plans so I need to get hobbling (still on crutches from the total hip). My biggest problem is carrying my purse. It slides off.

Sentimental Journey Spritz

This one is made with a newsetin the Summer mini catalog which is active until the end of August. I see my compass twirled on me so North is to teh right. Nuts. I guess maybe use some adhesive as well as a brad. live and learn, folks, live and learn.

I used Pumpking Pie card stock for the base, Night of Navy for the torn piece under the Travel Journal DSP (Designer Series Paper) (#117156). I stamped the compass in NON as well and matted it with NON card stock. I attached a mini library clip (#109857) in antique brass. I tied a small piece of pumpkin ribbon on it to make it pop.

The car images was stamped with Bashful Blue on Bashful Blue card stock, matted with NON. Before I stuck any of this on, I stamped the word Journey from the Sentimental Journey stamp set (#118513-w; 120075-c) and spritzed it with  Log Cabin Smooch Spritz (#119921).

Don't try to spray the smooch without the Color Catcher or some kind of box. It gets everywhere unless you take those precautionary steps first.

I can't wait to use this set with matching DSP for a scrapbook. I bought the blue 6x6 photo album that matches too. Look for me to use it in my Mexico scrapbook eventually!

Smarty Pants Hearts

This card is a direct CASE from either the catalog or someone on SCS. I can't remember who, I'm so sorry. Once again, thank you for sharing and I hope I did your design justice!

You know me .... make 'em easy and fun! This is Baja Breeze cardstock combined with, yes, Riding Hood Red and So Saffron (and WW) I used DSP on the bottom with a Crumb Cake strip across the middle matted on Chocolate Chip card stock. I used the Slit Punch (#104388) to create the large scallop at the top of the matted area and the Heart to Heart punch (#113694) for the hearts. First, however, I ran the baja through the Big Shot and stamped weeds from Pocket Silhouettes (#111672) on the RH Red.

The greeting is stamped in Chocolate Chip with the set Smarty Pants (#115070). I raised both the Saffron and White hearts up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

That's it! Easy peasy, huh?

Manic Monday CAS card - Love Vine

Hi Stampers!
Wow, for the first time in my short blogging life Blogger was down this morning for a while. At least it was for me. The error message just kept saying that Blogger was not available. Ah, but then ... it's manic Monday! I didn't get back to blogging until this afternoon and it feels weird to do this so late in the day.

Manic Monday means it's time for a CAS card! And it couldn't get much simpler than this.

I took this to a demo swap in January for Valentine's Day and everyone loved it. It's soooo simple! The colors are Real Red and Old Olive (here they look almost rosy but that could be my photography!

Take a piece of Whisper White card stock, score it (I used a Scor Pal but you can use your SU cutter and a bone folder too! I stamped the vine from Vintage Vogue (#117690-wood mount, #118598-clear mount) in Olive. The stamp set was in the Occasions Mini and will be in the new 2010-20111 Idea Book and Catalog  coming out July 1.

The hearts are stamped with the set I Heart Hearts (#117010-wood mount; #118571-clear mount) from the same mini catalog and are available in the new catalog as well. I stamped them in Real Red and used the Heart to Heart punch (#113694 - whale tale version) to punch them out. Keep in mind that as of July 1 the Heart to Heart punch will be retooled with the sleeker new punch design. If you have a preference for the whale tale current design for punches you'll want to fill in your collection before the end of the month.

I also used the Heart to Heart punch for the swirly heart and cut it smaller than the stamped image. Then I popped the larger images up with Stampin' Dimensionals, tied a Real Red Satin ribbon around the card and it was FINITO!

Manic Monday doesn't have to be bad if you've got an easy card to CASE! Go for it! Use butterflies or flowers instead of hearts, have fun with it. Don't forget to stamp a little greeting in the corner of your card.

Trendy Apple Trees

This card sure didn't take long. I ran Kiwi Kiss (you could easily use Old Olive) card stock through the Big Shot for texture (Texture plate Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 2  #114512) on the base card. The DSP, is a Real Red variation, as are the brads in the apple tree (Trendy Trees #113258). I used Chocolate Chip for the brown punched border (Eyelet border punch #113692) and the tree trunks. Two of the mat  corners were nipped with the Corner Rounder punch (#109047). I gently sponged the bottom edge with sponge daubers (#102892)to ground the image. This layout converts easily to any stamp set and all colors!

It's Scrappin' Saturday!

GOOOOOOODDD MORNING, STAMPERS!
What a B-E-A-U-TIFUL day! The sun is shining, the birds are singing and I'm wearing a new shirt. Yeah, pathetic, I know. I finally gave in and bought myself some clothes. Mainly summer shirts and a new swimsuit. We have to be prepared for those dog days of July, right? Or Halloween!

Today I've got more from my Mexico scrap book, a 2 page 12x12 layout.

This page shows my roommate getting ready for school the next day, a list of all the places the other students were living and a very worn looking banana tree (hence the monkeys!) I used DSP from the Spanish Stampin' Up! catalog.







The facing page uses the same DSP but incorporates the Daisy #2 die in More Mustard and So Saffron. The Tulip die was used to cut an image out of a So Saffron Square. The little car with luggage is Travel Time, a retired SU set. I also scrapped an Exchange Rate chart and journaled about the Dos Peso cabs. The tiny pic in front is a bad photo of us getting ready to leave. (I'm second from the right in the second row).

With the push for scrapbooking I'm surprised SU discontinued the My Way (#110709) punch with arrows. It's perfect for pointing things out on scrap book pages. It's still available until June 30, so if you're a scrapper I'd consider adding it to my order this month.

It's 3-D Friday!

Happy 3-D Friday everyone,

Today I'm using Decor Elements to create a cute canister for dog treats! Why have that icky old box sitting around when you can cute up a glass container instead?

I got the container in the housewares section of WalMart but I'm sure you can find them anywhere. I used a simple Decor Element flower design in Chocolate Chip and a 1/2 felt ribbon in the same color SU sold in their Holiday Mini catalog. Any ribbon will do!

This container is a small canning jar with etched design. I stamped the dog from the D is for Dog stamp set and punched it out with the Wide Oval punch which fit perfectly in the smooth area of the jar meant for labels. I wrapped black 1/4 inch grosgrain ribbon around the lid with sticky strip to make it more durable.

The top is a hounds tooth print DSP from the paper pack Night and Day. I cut it with the Circle Scissor Plus and used sticky strip to adhere it to the jar top. I stamped with doggy paw prints from the same stamp set, D is for Dog and that's it!

Have a great weekend! The Blue Angels are in town here so we'll probably watch that. There are too many things to choose from in the summer and I'm not getting my stamping time in!

Praying for You

Good Morning, everyone! It's foggy here today and the weather matches my mood. I'm a little under the weather so this will be a short post.

I used Baja Breeze and retired DSP to make this card as well as WW card stock. I ran both WW and the DSP through the Big Shot using the Scallop Frame die. I stamped the tree on the WW and inserted it into the scallop frame. Before I stuck the frame down I tied a piece of white taffeta on it. The punches for the greeting are Large Scallop, Scallop Oval and Wide Oval. I used Chocolate Chip Ink.

Another easy card ... you might have noticed that I LOVE easy! At any rate I've got a couple of other things to do then I'm heading back to bed. Hope I beat this bug.

Party Monkey

This is my Party Monkey! I love this set, but then I say that about EVERY set I buy so you'll hear that a lot!

I've been hunting down cards I made with RH Red, Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze! I'm so excited about these colors coming back! They are some of my favorites!

This card uses both Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette, as well as Kraft (now Crumb Cake) and Very Vanilla card stock.The stamp set is Sock Monkey (#111552). I stamped the image twice, once on Kraft and once on VV. I paper-pieced the VV card stock onto the Kraft monkey and colored the mouth with a Stampin' Write marker. The balloons were stamped on colored card stock, cut out and raised with Stampin' Dimensionals. I drew the strings free hand.

The pink dotted red DSP is retired but you could use any color (OR wait until July 1 when they'll come out with other RH Red and Pink Pir DSP! ;-) I mounted the DSP onto Crumb Cake (I need to practice the new name) card stock, leaving enough room to use my piercing tool to create the stitch marks. I cut 2 scallops out with the Scallop Edge punch (#112091) and mounted them under the Crumb Cake.

I plopped my Monkey on top of everything and the rest ... is history.

Celebrate Good Times

It's that time of year again! A time when we say a fond farewell to the stamp sets and accessories we love and welcome new and exciting stamps, accessories and colors! I can't wait! Here's today's card. It uses the retiring set Celebrate Everything (#114942)

I used Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip card stock for this one. I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White card stock with chocolate chip ink. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig (#101049) to line up the smaller stamp then used the piercing tool (#116631) to make the holes at the bottom of the greeting. Remember to order the Mat Pack (#105826) to make those holes uniform distance and size like mine.  

I clipped the corners with the Ticket Corner punch (#107214) and roughed up the edges of the chocolate chip mat with the Cutter Kit (#106958). Love that little tool! I punched out flowers using the Boho Blossoms punch (#110711). Before I taped anything to the card (which measure 3x6 inches by the way) I prepared the DSP.

Here's the fun part of the project! I took Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP (#112164) and brayered Baja Breeze ink over it! The card stock is dark enough so the brown masks the baja color and the white portion shows up as baja! Isn't that t-r-i-c-k-y??? Thought you'd love it!

Put the whole thing together and VOILA! There it is. Oh yeah, don't forget the brad to secure your blossoms!

June Projects

Last Chance List is the list of items that are being discontinued. Your best bet for accessories is to order on-line. If you feel more comfortable ordering with me that's fine too. Just leave me a cell number where I can get a hold of you for alternates if something sells out. Card stock and ink are already sold out in some colors so it's moving fast. You have the whole month of June, however, to order stamp sets.  Find that you're ordering $150 worth? Then you'll qualify for hostess benefits.
